Since its creation in 1999, LESTE has been involved in the development cycle of research within the framework of its objectives, giving concrete expression to national and international collaborations. Research is organized around five major thematic areas:

• Aerothermodynamics.
• Materials for energy.
• Heterogeneous media.
• Modeling and optimization of energy systems.
• Combustion.

The research program aims to study phenomena and systems where physics places a preponderant place on fluid mechanics and energy and mass transfers, either because these constitute the essential problem, or because they are in interaction with phenomena from other disciplines (mechanics, electrical engineering, chemical engineering). The objectives of our program are:

• • The set up of processes or systems (dryers, ovens, motors, heat pumps, air-conditioned enclosures, etc.).
• • The development of means of measurement and numerical codes adapted to the complexity of the problems.
• • Improving the performance of processes and systems in the field of energy efficiency and the reduction or treatment of waste.
• • Understanding the transfer phenomena of momentum, energy and matter.
• • Contribution to the training, through research, of skills in the fields of fluid mechanics and energy and mass transfer.

The Laboratory welcomes engineering students from ENIM and researchers from several doctoral schools in Tunisia (ENIM, ENIT, FST, FSM, etc.).
