Activities

Thesis Title : Development of a Hybrid Thermal Management System for PEMFC Fuel Cells Using Bio-based Phase Change Material (PCM) Composites.

In collaboration : with the Laboratory of Thermal Engineering, Energy, and Processes (ECAM La Salle Lyon, France).
Supervisor: Professor Maher Ben Chiekh (LESTE-ENIM)
Date of first enrollment  December 2024

Thesis Topic:

The aim of this research is to develop advanced thermal management systems for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) by leveraging bio-based phase change materials (PCMs) and to assess their functional and industrial viability.

The work is structured into two main components:

  1. Numerical Simulation
This phase involves developing a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model to simulate the thermal behavior of PEMFCs, which will be validated through experimental data.

  2. Experimental Validation
The doctoral candidate will conduct experiments using the Hydrogen Test Bench at ECAM LaSalle, France, to evaluate the performance of the proposed thermal management system.
